Our focus is very heavily targeted at vulnerable older adults who may be at risk of deception-type doorstep crimes (distraction burglary, rogue traders, etc) as these offences are particularly damaging for the unfortunate victims and their family group.
The SCLT have been existence since 2009, and have been providing a range of services in the Bristol area over this period. In 2013 we will extend our reach to cover the whole Avon & Somerset area with our crime prevention and educational services. Our main weapon of strength against the doorstep criminal is preparation, and to make our community aware of the actions to take to enhance their home and personal safety we publish a free quarterly magazine called the Senior Siren.
The Senior Siren is aimed at all members of the community, but with a particular focus at older adults and their close community group. It contains original lifestyle articles, as well as games and puzzles, social engagement information and columns by law enforcement professionals, guest writers and celebrity interviewees. All, of course, interspersed with the essential home and personal safety tips to keep the reader safe.
The Senior Siren is distributed via thousands of hard-copies and tens of thousands of electronic copies, to an estimated readership of 75,000 older adults in our target area.
The Senior Siren is the quarterly publication of the award-winning Senior Citizen Liaison Team (SCLT). Visit the website for previous copies of the Senior Siren and much, much more useful information.
