We’ve had ongoing issues with the bins at West Hill Recreation Ground being illegally used to dispose of builders’ waste, including heavy rubble. This is not what these bins are designed for.
The damage caused by this misuse has already resulted in two bins being removed, as they were broken beyond repair. Unfortunately, this creates a knock-on cost to the taxpayers of Westfield, who end up footing the bill for waste removal and replacing damaged bins. Previous to this there was the cost of having specialists to remove the rubble as it was not possible for one person to do in their normal remit of bin emptying.
We’ve reported it to the police and have asked for extra patrols in the area. This is fly-tipping and illegal practice.
Someone knows who is doing this. We are not asking you to approach anyone seen, but if you know them please advise that if they are caught they could be prosecuted.
Please do not leave rubbish where the removed bins used to be
Use the remaining bins located across the site
Do not dispose of builders’ or commercial waste here
Let’s work together to keep the recreation ground clean, safe and usable for everyone. Thank you to those who already dispose of waste responsibly — your cooperation really does make a difference.
